The Tax Increment Financing Plan and Development PlanThe title is a mouthful, but it's the most important document the DDA has: it's our past, present and the plan for the future of our community. By law, we have to include a lot of legal requirements, but if you can get past those first few paragraphs, we promise there is some really cool stuff, especially when you get to Section V. "Description of Proposed Improvements." This is where we gathered the most visionary business minds in town and brainstormed how we can make our growing city even better. Parks, trails, connector bike paths, street improvements, building renovations, wetland boardwalks... more than just an idea, this living document is step one of the project plans to make it happen.
We also added a new section to this plan: Maintenance Projects. So often we've built it but failed to plan for the longevity and keeping of it. In order to correct that mistake, the DDA is taking steps to ensure that beautification and maintenance of the DDA district happens now and for many years to come. The original plan was enacted in 1990 by the Coopersville City Council Ordinance 191, when the Downtown Beautification Committee formally became the Downtown Development Authority under Michigan Public Act 197 of 1975 as Amended (Act 197). The district was amended and expanded a few times over the intervening years, and in 2015, the DDA Tax Use & Development Plan was renewed for another 15 years. In 2020 the project portion of the plan was updated to remove completed projects and add in new project options. To read the amended and renewed plan in full, click HERE. |
